We are not going to pretend Everett is short of furnace companies. It is the county seat and the largest city in Snohomish County, incorporated in 1893, and every regional chain dispatches into it. The bulk of what we do here is ordinary residential work — a furnace that quit, an upstairs that is unliveable in August, a water heater at the end of its life, a heat pump somebody wants sized honestly rather than sold up.
Everett's housing runs from pre-war stock on the bluffs to new construction on the outskirts, so there is no single typical job. One local thing worth flagging: outdoor condensing units close to the water live a harder life than the same unit inland, and coil condition is worth looking at every maintenance visit rather than every third one.
Salt air is hard on outdoor units. A condensing unit within sight of the water lives a harder life than the identical unit five miles inland. Coil corrosion is gradual and easy to miss until capacity has quietly dropped, so on waterfront-side homes we look at coil condition every maintenance visit rather than every third one — and it is worth asking about coated coils when you replace.
More baseboard than people expect. Older Everett homes and converted units run on electric resistance heat far more often than the housing stock suggests. If that is you, a heat pump is the biggest single change available to a winter bill — roughly three units of heat per unit of electricity against one — and it brings cooling with it, which baseboard cannot do at all.
Commercial refrigeration. Most residential HVAC outfits will not touch a walk-in cooler, a reach-in or a restaurant condensing unit — different skill set, different parts inventory, different call at 2am. We do both sides. For a homeowner that mostly means the same crew has seen harder equipment than yours; for a restaurant, a club or a church it means one number for the rooftop unit and the cold side alike.
